Trendy Kitchen Remodeling Ideas to Try Before 2020 Ends

The kitchen is one of the most popular rooms to remodel in any home. It makes sense, since this room is the heart and soul of almost any house. In terms of everyday use, it is surpassed only by the bathroom (and maybe not even that). Kitchen remodeling also has a great return on investment. So whether you’re planning a small remodel for your kitchen or a huge overhaul, here are some fun design trends to consider when kitchen remodeling.

Trendy Kitchen Remodeling Ideas to Try Before 2020 Ends

The kitchen is one of the most popular rooms to remodel in any home. Here are some fun design trends to consider.

Flooring

New flooring is a great way to make an entire kitchen feel new. Solid hardwood remains a popular choice for kitchen flooring, as does engineered hardwood. There are many popular species of hardwoods to choose from, so it’s a sure bet you’ll find one that fits your style and your vision for your new kitchen.

Islands

Kitchen islands come in various sizes and serve many purposes. For some, they are the perfect place for the range, or even for an additional range. For others, they make great prep space or even seating. A kitchen island is also a great place to add a point of visual interest, especially if you integrate natural materials like granite, marble, or quartz. Remember as you design to leave plenty of room for foot traffic to get around the island as well.

Backsplash

Replacing a backsplash is one of the most cost-effective ways to update the look of your kitchen. This can be as simple as merely updating the paint on all the walls. You could add an interesting look using a stencil and a contrasting color or even the same color with a different finish (flat, satin, gloss) to add visual interest just to the wall area behind the sink.  Alternatively, you could update the backsplash by adding tile in an interesting pattern.

Shelving

Open shelving is continuing to be a popular trend in kitchens. Once upon a time, people would frown at you showing off your cutlery or crockery, but those days are gone. And good riddance. Open shelving allows you to use your cookware for double duty as a beautiful piece on the walls in addition to a tool. It also helps to make a kitchen feel more open, and it doesn’t spell the demise of cabinetry; they work well together.
