How to Maintain Your Outdoor Furniture This Summer

What condition is your outdoor furniture in? Keeping it all covered up isn’t the best way to enjoy it.

What condition is your outdoor furniture in? Keeping it all covered up isn’t the best way to enjoy it. Summer storms might roll through your neighborhood might make you rethink your desire to spend time outside. Even so, there are some things you can do to maintain your outdoor furniture and keep it looking great.

How to Clean Wood Furniture

Because it is so durable and stylish, teak is often used for wooden patio furniture. Plus, no matter what aesthetic you are trying to go for, teak fits in wonderfully. Although it is relatively resistant to both mold and rot, you will still need to keep an eye on it. That’s because it can still fall victim to mildew. Dilute one cup of vinegar in a gallon of water. Then scrub the wood with a soft cleaning brush and spread the cleaning solution around. Give it fifteen minutes or so to finish drying before you go back to rinse with some water

How to Clean Wicker Furniture

Wicker is another material that is commonly used for popular pieces of outdoor furniture. You might think that it’s hard to clean, but in reality, it isn’t. Use a vacuum to get rid of spiderwebs and dust. Then coat a sponge with a mild, oil-based soap to remove dirt that you can’t eliminate otherwise. Again, give the furniture some time to dry before sitting in it again. This way, you can ensure that it won’t sag.

How to Clean Wrought Iron Furniture

Your patio tables and grilling accessories are probably made of some type of metal. That metal is typically wrought iron. Wrought iron is incredibly durable and surprisingly low-maintenance. Hose down your furniture and then scrub using a sponge and some dish soap before rinsing again. Just make sure you avoid any accidental mud splashes, especially after it has rained.

How to Clean Plastic Furniture

Some homeowners choose to have plastic patio furniture. This outdoor furniture is affordable and also easy to maintain, which is probably the reason why it is so popular. All you have to do to keep it clean is to use some vinegar, some water, and a sponge.
